# Age verification

> How ourdream confirms users and characters are 18+.

ourdream is an 18+ platform. We verify on both ends:

* **Users** must confirm they are 18 or older to access mature content,
and where required by jurisdiction must complete identity verification.
* **Characters** must depict adults. See
  [Prohibited content → Minors](/policies/prohibited-content#minors--underage).

This page covers the user-side verification.

## How verification works

### Standard sign-up

All new accounts confirm age at sign-up.

### When identity verification is required

Where local law requires it, users must complete identity verification
before accessing mature features. See *Jurisdictional requirements*
below for what triggers this.

### The identity-verification flow

When identity verification is required, we use
[**Go.cam**](https://go.cam/), an independent third-party age-
verification provider. Depending on the jurisdiction and the user's
context, Go.cam dynamically selects from several verification methods,
which may include facial recognition (AI age estimation), live
selfie with liveness check, government-issued ID, or credit-card
verification.

The integration shape is the same regardless of method:

1. The user completes the verification flow on Go.cam.
2. Go.cam returns a binary "verified 18+" signal to ourdream.
3. We retain the signal on the account; we never receive the
underlying ID document, selfie, or liveness video.

Go.cam is certified by the German KJM, the British ACC, and
recommended by the ASACP. They are GDPR-compliant and have completed
a risk assessment with the UK ICO.

### Jurisdictional requirements

Identity verification (not just baseline age confirmation) is required
in certain jurisdictions — including the **United Kingdom** (under
the Online Safety Act's highly-effective age-assurance requirement)
and **Australia** (under the eSafety Commissioner's age-assurance
expectations for adult-content services) — and in any other
jurisdiction whose local law requires it. Users in those
jurisdictions are routed to the verification flow regardless of
their plan.

### What we store

| Data | Retention |
| --------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------- |
| Verified-18+ signal on the account | While the account exists |
| Verification session metadata (date, vendor reference ID) | Up to 30 days, in a session cookie |
| ID document image | Not retained |
| Biometric (face) image | Not retained |
| Liveness video | Not retained |

The ID document, the live selfie, and the liveness video are processed
by Go.cam and never delivered to ourdream. We only receive a success
or failure signal. Go.cam's own [privacy policy](https://go.cam/privacy)
states that the verification work happens on the user's device and
that Go.cam does not maintain a server-side database of biometric
data.

## When verification doesn't complete

If verification doesn't complete, the user is not granted access to
gated features and can retry. Repeated failed attempts and obvious
tampering are flagged for review.

If a user successfully verifies but later evidence emerges that they
misrepresented their age, the account is suspended pending
investigation and (if substantiated) closed.

## Re-verification

A user verifies once. The verified-18+ signal stays with the account
and we don't ask again on a schedule.

The trust team can re-check a specific account when there's reason to:
a credible report that a user misrepresented their age, evidence of
account sharing across age groups, or anything else that warrants
another look.

## Reporting suspected underage users

If you believe a user on the platform is under 18, report them through
the [reporting flow](/reporting/how-to-report). Suspected-minor reports
are prioritised.

## Support

For technical difficulties with our age-verification service, contact
[support@ourdream.ai](mailto:support@ourdream.ai). Support can help you
complete verification through the approved Go.cam route or work through
technical issues you hit along the way.

Support is **not** an alternate route to approval, and we do not handle
any personal information through this channel — the verification itself
still happens entirely on Go.cam.
